Last night I tried hooking up my Definitive Technologies PF15TL+ subwoofer to augment my main speakers. This was a total disaster. (more…)
Dear Amazon.com:
Your website reports that my package started its life on January 29, 2007 and has a label of “Arrival Scan” on December 31, 1969 at 3:59:59 PM. Either my package has gone back in time, or your website has a bug. You should probably look into fixing this. See the following link for an example:

It’s been a while since I have purchased any new music… part of being a college student I think. Well I have picked up two noteworthy new releases.
Dixie Chicks. Taking the Long Way Home and
The Little Willies. The Little Willies are both great albums and a joy to listen to after not getting anything new in a number of months. (more…)
Went looking for a Bob Dylan SACD this evening. Santa Cruz is kind of short on sources for audiophile music, so wound up at Borders. Just for fun, I went looking for a SACD player that had a headphone jack for my office, and came home with a SCD-C2000ES. It’s had a good 2 weeks of solid burn in (I plugged it in at home for evaluation and powerered it up then got too busy to listen to anything)

This evening, I listened to one of the sonically best RCA Living Stereo discs that I own Offenbach: Gaite Parisienne. The disc has both Gaite Parisinne and La boutique fantasque. I listened on my solid-state/digital system, the B&K Reference 50 preamp and matching B&K Reference 5-channel amplifier. (more…)

This has included the Excellent recordings of Mahler’s Symphonies performed by the San Francisco Symphony, and conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas (SACD),the recent RCA Red Seal Living Stereo, and Mercury Living Presence releases on SACD. These represent some of the finest classical performances ever recorded. (more…)
